On February 21, 2024, Charlene O Alber, of Henderson, NV made her transition to Heaven at the age of 89. Charlene was born November 5, 1934, in Akron, OH. She is preceded in death by her husband Lloyd J Alber; parents Malcolm Caraway and Geneva Dailey Caraway; in-laws, Harold Alber and Ethel Tremaine Alber; and brother and sister in-laws Richard and Maxine Alber. Charlene is survived by her brother, James (Ada) Caraway of Baytown TX; her daughters, Karen Sheckard of Portland, OR and Kimberly Alber of Phoenix, AZ; son Kenneth (Michelle) Alber of Henderson, NV; one granddaughter, Lauren (Aron) Alber Procuniar; five grandsons, Jonathan (Brianna) Sheckard, Jason Sheckard, Ryan (Katy) Alber, Brandon Alber and Chaston (Brooklyn) Alber; and seven great-grandchildren, Makenzie Sheckard Miles, Landon Sheckard, Scottie Sheckard, Lucy Procuniar, Olivia Procuniar, Skye Alber, and Lane Alber.
As a youth, Charlene attended the Akron Baptist Temple where her foundation in God and her strong faith in her redeemer Jesus Christ was established.
Charlene married Lloyd on April 17, 1954, at the age of 19. The city girl would move from Akron to a small rural family dairy farm 20 miles away to begin her life with the handsome and strong country farm boy. They had their first child Karen in 1955, followed by the birth of their son Ken in 1958, and Kim in 1959. During the next decade, her life would flourish with her young family. She would work tremendously hard in various jobs to create the best life possible for her family. She maintained her city polish and never wandered too far into the barn to avoid getting manure on her shoes. During the years on the farm, the family attended the Remsen Christian Church where the fundamentals of her Christian faith continued to guide the family.
In 1969, with much sadness, the farm animals and equipment were sold as the economics of running a small family farm became a struggle. Charlene, always looking to push her family forward to a better life, built a new home in the nearby small town of Medina, OH. It was there she continued her passion in the party plan clothing fashion industry where she worked relentlessly with her husband to provide and create a wonderful life for her family during the 1970s. Her home with Lloyd became a haven of love and fun for all the friends of Karen, Ken, and Kim. She would inspire her children and their friends to pursue constant improvement. She provided encouragement and motivation for these young lives to set great goals to achieve their potential through education, hard work, and being kind.
The early 1980s she would see her children migrate and relocate one by one to Phoenix, following Lloyd’s parents who had moved west after retiring. At the age of 50, Lloyd and Charlene followed the long trek westward and would re-unit with their family. It was in Arizona that they began to rebuild their careers by obtaining real estate licenses. Charlene and Lloyd found employment at the US Home Corporation. Charlene’s passion for building and decorating homes, coupled with her extraordinary ability to manage and inspire people, created a comfortable inviting environment for those seeking to buy their dream home. These attributes lead to her success. She worked for the US Home for 20 years ascending to the position of SR Vice President of Sales and Marketing, where she excelled and received many awards. It was during these 20 years she positively impacted the lives of all the individuals she worked with, while leaving an honorable legacy.
As the new century arrived, the 2000s would bring her challenges of dealing with health issues of Lloyd and of her own. In 2007, they would move to Henderson, NV to be closer to Ken and Michelle’s family while enjoying the lives and activities especially of their grandchildren. It was during these years that her love and wisdom were shared abundantly, and unforgettable bonds and memories were created.
In Henderson, Charlene and Lloyd joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where they found the light of Christ shining bright. In 2012 they would be sealed in the Las Vegas Temple for time and eternity. Charlene loved the heavenly ambiance and especially the beautiful décor of the Temple. In the Amador Ward she would build many friendships, while leaving a shining impression on all those she encountered.
In 2014, Lloyd, her husband of 60 years would succumb to his health issues. It was a difficult time for Charlene to move ahead alone but she found much joy in spending time with her family and church members. Although she was facing mounting physical challenges herself, she pushed forward and stayed active and continued to touch hearts.
The last 3 years would see her physical ailments limiting her activity and forcing her to be home bound. She navigated through these years with grace, positivity, faith, and dignity. She transitioned from this earth to her heavenly home with a strong faith in the resurrection and eternal life promised by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
