CAROLYN MARTHA (JOHNSON) CRAWFORD,64, of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away, February 16, 2012. She was born December 25, 1947 to Joseph D. Johnson and Evelyn Jensen. She is preceded in death by her father. Carolyn is survived by her husband, Darrel Crawford; two daughters, Amy (Miles) Connell and Kim Crawford; son, Ty (Gina) Crawford; Siblings, Marilyn Oviatt, Jerilyn Frei and Jerry Johnson; Mother, Evelyn Johnson (94 years old); Seven Grandchildren, Alex, Chad, Dane, Megan, Evelyn, Michael and Abby.
Carolyn was a native Las Vegan who was a life long member of First Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. She was very active in church activities such as Altar Guild and Lutheran Women's Missionary League. She also worked in the Elementary School's hot lunch program with her best buddies Esther Buntjer & Sandy Harms.
Her love for Lutheran education continued when she became an active member of the Faith Lutheran High School Service Club. She and her friends: Esther Buntjer; Sandy Harms; Connie Engh; Beverly Newton; Bev Hall; and Rosina Goodwin were instrumental in many Octoberfest's and Laua fundraisers' to help the advancement of the Jr./Sr. High School.
Carolyn was an employee of Glee's Party Shop where she enjoyed working with her good friend Loran Oppenborn. She enjoyed working with the public and coming across old and new faces. This is where her love for Precious Moments began. She became a Charter member of the Precious Moments Club sponsored by Glee's. She loved and cherished the people in this group. They visited the Precious Moments Chapel in Carthridge, Mo. 3 times and she had the opportunity to enjoy a Precious Moments Cruise.
One of her great loves was cooking and baking for her friends and family. Many enjoyed her Christmas Candy (which as soon as she could) recruited her children as her helper/elves. She then joined forces with Esther Buntjer and around Christmas time it was heard the B&C Candy making factory was in full swing.
Carolyn also loved camping with her family. Many family reunions required the family to travel and campout together. She and her husband, Darrel, became active members of a small camping group called "Camp Lutherwood", located in southern Utah. The two continued to support the camp even when she was no longer able to go up to the camp with donations of baked goods for raffling. Her smile was always from ear to ear when it was said during the raffle, "Did Carolyn make those?"
As her grandchildren arrived, one by one, received countless items hand sewn by her where her love was evident in every stitch.
She loved and was proud of the family God helped her build and everything she did it was to glorify Him. Her faith in her Lord was strong and steadfast. She instilled this in her children and her grandchildren.
She will be greatly missed by all who were touched by her laugh, love and food.
