She was born in Wichita, Kansas on June 13th, 1939. She lived with her father in Atascadero California after her parents divorced and was raised by her grandmother Katherine. In 1958 she moved to New York City to live with her Aunt Joy Miller, who was a reporter for the Associated Press. She attended secretarial school, where she met her best friend Frances, and found work as a medical secretary.
Carole worked as a medical transcriptionist for Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center and The Allen Presbyterian Hospital. She was universally admired for her professionalism, work ethics, and natural leadership. She was also a single mother who raised her only son Mark in New York City. She retired in 2005 to spend more time with her grandchildren and family in Kansas.
She moved from New York to California in 1990s to be with her son's family, and again to Nevada in the 2000s to be near his family. She loved her grandchildren dearly and was an important part of their lives.
Carole remained incredibly astute and organized to her last days - keeping lists of birthdays, medications, photos, and bits of wisdom for posterity.
Carole was beloved by many, generous to a fault, and kind to everyone. A cherished mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, and friend. She is survived by her son Mark Miller and his wife Debbie, her grandchildren Jordan and Katherine, her half-sisters Lou Ann Clark, Kay Detering, and Deanne Nance. She's gone to heaven to meet her best friend Francis, her grandmother Katherine, her Aunt Joy, her mother Luella, and her father Elwood.
She will be deeply missed by all the friends and family whose lives she touched with her thoughtfulness and compassion. As per her last wishes, she will be cremated at Palm Mortuary in Las Vegas and her ashes will be scattered.
