Carl Fuhr left us too soon June 30, 2022. Born April 19, 1927, he was 95 years young with a zest for life and a love for making people happy. He was raised on the lower east side of NYC in the depression era. He was drafted out of college by the Navy shortly before the atomic bomb ended the conflict in August 1945. He loved sports and, among other activities, played basketball for the Navy and other venues. He was the owner/operator of a ladies handbag and jewelry wholesale business in downtown Manhattan. He moved to Las Vegas over 30 years ago to extend the life of his wife, Gertrude, who had health issues and needed a climate change. Although she preceded him in death, they were able to enjoy 20 years in LV. Carl was always cheerful, sensitive to others and a contented man. He loved to elicit a smile on someone's face by a word or a joke. His greatest joy was to make someone else happy. He leaves behind his loving companion, Merle, who will miss him greatly. During their 10 years together, they enjoyed hiking at Red Rock Canyon, attending Olli classes at UNLV, summers at the Shakespearean Festival in UT, dining out alone or with their wonderful friends and many, many cruises and other trips. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Eileen. He leaves his sons, Robert and Michael; step-sons, Arthur (Pilar) and Mitchell (Pam); brother George (Jackie); and nephew Ethan (Marlene). Merle's family, Sharon and Eric and their sons, Zeke and Hank became his family, too. We all will cherish our memories of him and recognize how our lives were enriched because of him.
