"Seeing is believing.” For many, those words simply represent a motto. But for Cameron Dennis Wallace, it summarized in every way who he was. He was modest, quiet and observant, taking in everything around him and always thinking before acting. He was a realist, someone who was efficient and practical in everything he did. He was a friendly person who truly cared about those around him.
Cameron was born on September 7, 1998 at St. Marys Hospital in Apple Valley, California. He was the son of Dennis and Elizabeth Wallace. Raised in Las Vegas, Nevada, he was brought up to be tolerant and trustworthy. As a child, he learned to be conscientious, responsible and punctual. These were all traits that he would carry with him throughout his life.
As a young boy, Cameron was always aware of how others around him felt and this quality served him well. With a deep capacity to tolerate the feelings of others, Cameron was generally able to avoid conflicts. It seemed as if Cameron was the family member who was always working to keep stress at bay. Preferring a quiet environment where he could concentrate, Cameron also had the ability to relate well with his family and friends. Cameron was raised with 2 siblings. He had two older sisters, Kayla Karlson and Asacia Wallace. He also had two half siblings Anthony Wallace and Emela Wallace. Cameron was constantly involved in activities with his family. Cameron and his siblings had the typical rivalries while growing up but they deeply cared for each other and shared many life experiences over the years.
Growing up, Cameron was one of those children who didn’t need to be in the center of a whirlwind of activity. He was content to entertain himself. Cameron was never pushy when it came to games and other activities, but rather, he was able to enjoy the pure fun these could bring. In just about everything he did as a child, Cameron was intent on pleasing both the adults and the other children around him. Cameron took part in a number of activities as a child. He took part in martial arts. In his spare time he liked video games and swimming. Cameron's memorable achievements included years in martial arts and received several awards and belts.
Cameron enjoyed learning. He always had a great memory and was particularly skilled at retaining factual information. Cameron was generally quiet in class, learning best through observation. He often showed great concentration and was competent at completing the tasks at hand. Good with details, Cameron was painstaking and accurate in his efforts. All of these talents culminated in a successful high school career. He graduated from Shadow Ridge High School in 2016. Cameron enjoyed some courses more than others, having favorite subjects and teachers. His favorite class in high school was Air Force JROTC. The teacher he enjoyed learning from the most was Jerry Cooper, Lt. Col. and completed 2 years of JROTC with him.
Cameron had a good disposition for the challenges of college. He always enjoyed reading, so all of those lengthy required reading assignments from High School would of prepared him for college. In fact, Cameron seemed to absorb and remember everything he read. Not all things came easily to Cameron, however, and he found success by being a diligent and accurate person who would dig into a project and work through until it reached its completion. He was very thorough and labored long and hard in order to reach his goals. He recently applied and got accepted into College of DuPage where he wanted to pursue in becoming a Zoologist.
Most folks would say that Cameron was shy until they got to know him. Those who were privileged to know him learned very well that he was a solid, good, caring friend. Cameron was reluctant to generalize about people, and he based his friendships on his personal experiences. Because of this, Cameron best trusted those people that he truly knew. He was concerned about how those around him felt, and he always seemed to uncover the positive side of people. He could relate to others and had the ability to see their point of view, to “walk a mile in their shoes,” as the saying goes. The friends that he made, Cameron kept. While growing up, some of his best friends were Asher Postma, Richard Delgadillo, Marvin Revolorio, Aaron Medina, Zachary Scholtman, Bryson Witzel, Trey Norris, Zachary, John Martin and Chad Cook. Later in life, he became best friends with Daniel Soto.
If you gave Cameron a deadline, he would meet it. At work, Cameron was always on task. Without hesitation, Cameron could adhere to any assignment and see it through to its completion. His primary occupation was Petco Sales Associate which he enjoyed because of his love for animals. During that time, Cameron excelled in working with small groups in order to complete assignments. He was able to quickly grasp concrete ideas and could organize and plan the best way to accomplish things with remarkable consistency. Cameron was good at staying on track and was considerate in listening to what others had to say. In this way, Cameron had a true gift for being able to come up with practical resolutions to difficult problems. He was often the team member who managed to put forth a win/win solution for all parties.
Cameron liked to experience things first hand, in addition to simply learning about them. This quality influenced Cameron's choice of leisure time activities. A methodical and patient worker, Cameron preferred to set aside uninterrupted time to work on his hobbies. His favorite pursuits were Video games, daily walks, hiking trails, board games, gun range shooting and hanging out with friends and studying various animals and always wanting to expand his knowledge. Cameron was content to sit and read about anything that will further educate him. He also enjoyed watching WWE and going to watch the Harlem Globetrotters Basketball games.
Due to his excellent organizational skills, Cameron was a welcome addition to the professional and community organizations to which he belonged. Cameron could bring established, successful methods to the discussion table, along with a generous helping of common sense. Cameron was good at making and keeping schedules and never got bogged down in unnecessary details. In high school, Cameron was a member of the AFJ-ROTC. Throughout his later years, Cameron was an active member of the Bat association, organized various teams with computer video games.
An individual who respected and maintained traditional values, his faith was important to Cameron. His compassion, consideration and sympathy toward others was evident in his personal beliefs. He was baptized Seventh-Day Adventist, grew up in the Christian faith as a child and as an adult accumulated into his own beliefs.
Anyone who traveled or went on vacation with Cameron had smooth sailing. He was a go with the flow individual who came along for the adventure. Some of his favorite vacation areas included Grand Canyon, Arizona; Sedona, Arizona; Big Bear, California; Zion National Parks, Beaches in California, Red Rock and Mt Charleston.
Cameron had Ozzie, a bearded dragon, who was his best friend for 4 years. His family was rounded out by his Bengal cat, Raja; a Akita dog, Serena; a Yorkie dog, Freya; a Min-Pin Chihuahua, Apollo; a German Shepherd, Gunner; and a Sun Conure bird, Sunkiss. Cameron was as loyal to his pets as they were to him.
Cameron passed away on January 26, 2019 at Home in Las Vegas, Nevada. Cameron passed away from a seizure in his sleep. He is survived by Parents Dennis and Elizabeth Wallace, two older sisters Kayla Karlson and Asacia Wallace and half siblings Anthony Wallace and Emelda Wallace. Services were held at Palm Northwest Mortuary.
It is said that some people can’t see the forest for the trees. Cameron was able to focus on each individual tree whether it was broken or flourishing, tending to its needs, thus making the forest stronger as a whole. Cameron was a trustworthy, pragmatic and sympathetic person, the kind of man to whom everyone was drawn to. He was thorough and practical. Cameron Wallace was very literal with his words. You always knew where you stood with Cameron. He is loved by many people and will be missed dearly.
