It is with deep sorrow and much love that the family of Brian Timothy Downs announces his passing on March 2, 2020 at Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was 52 years old. Brian was born March 16, 1967 and was a lifelong resident of Las Vegas, Nevada. His 53rd birthday was just a couple weeks away. Although he cannot receive gifts, he will be giving the gift of life to one or more through organ donation.
Brian attended Western High School, graduating in 1985 before attending UNLV. Brian was the proud owner of Millennium Insurance Brokers in Las Vegas for the past 20 years. He was devoted to his work and always cared about his clients by taking a personal interest in their well being.
He is survived by his mother and stepfather Peggy and Clinton Newman, his siblings; Tamara Pawlow, David Downs, Mark Downs (Maria Downs), Danny Downs (Carey Yancey) and Angelea Bielinski (Joshua Bielinski). Brian had a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, many extended family members and friends. He is preceded in death by his brother Steven Downs, his father Jack Downs, his grandparents Majure and Merle Chisholm, and his beloved uncle Majure Ronald Chisholm.
Brian believed that kindness and compassion were the keys to a fulfilling life. He led by that example and thought about his family first in a way that made them feel loved and important. He was the kind of guy who would take his time to pick out just the right card and write just the right note inside for you. It didn’t even need to be a special occasion. An animal and nature lover, he took a keen interest in science. More specifically-space and space weather phenomena. He leaves behind his 2 treasured rescue dogs, Mibi and Tiki. Both of whom he kept very close to his heart.
Brian was a worldwide traveler, having visited Germany to stay with his brother Mark for a few months. He also traveled to Korea and Japan as a professional dancer. Who knew? Unfortunately, his family never had the pleasure of seeing him dance.
He appreciated life in the grandest of ways and paid attention to the little details most would overlook. Brian loved the performing arts such as music and dance. He also possessed a witty personality with a keen sense of humor. With his infectious laugh and gentle approach, strangers turned quickly into friends.
Brian’s unforgettable presence and lovable, kind spirit will be sorely missed by all who knew him. A Celebration of Brian’s life will be held on Friday, March 13, 2020 at 10:00am at Palm Downtown Mortuary, 1325 N. Main Street, Las Vegas, NV 89101. He will be laid to rest immediately following at Palm Downtown Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made in his honor to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention in lieu of flowers. His family truly appreciates all of the love and support that has been given to them during this difficult time. Please keep Brian and his family in your hearts and in your prayers.
