Betty J Rivers, 88 years old, was born on September 1, 1933 in Raton, New Mexico to Joseph and Isabell Sandoval. Betty married Bill (William) V. Johnson when she was 16 years old. Betty and Bill had 8 children, 4 boys and 4 girls, Kimberly, Terri, Jack, Kenny (deceased), Korey (deceased), Norma (deceased), Kristi and Freddie (deceased at 11 years old). Bill and Freddie passed away together September 21, 1975 in a car accident. Betty pinned with grief for her husband and son for many years. Betty lost 3 other children before her death. Then in June 1983 Betty married Ted Rivers. Betty and Ted went through numerous trials and tribulations in life. Ted was a loving, caring husband that loved Betty dearly. They were happily married for 39 years. Betty wore many hats in her lifetime. Betty was the first female volunteer fireman (Woman) in Clark County. Betty also volunteered at SNORE, Southern Nevada Off Road Enthusiasts as an EMT. Betty also worked as a security guard at Casers Palace. Betty volunteered as a race program director and worked on contingency for all the motorcycles for Best in the Desert. Betty loved animals and had many cats and dogs over the years. Betty and Ted had 18 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren. Betty will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, grandma, mother-in-law and friend. Betty's funeral service will be on Sunday March 27th at 1:00PM at Palm Eastern Mortuary. Masks are required to enter for funeral.
