Barry Gene Wasson

Barry Gene Wasson, loved husband and a good friend to many, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2019 after a battle with cancer, he was 66 years old. After traveling through several countries and states, he made North Las Vegas, Nevada his home.

He was born to parents, Paul Wasson of Canada and mother, Nina Ward of Maine. He is survived by his devoted wife, Nak Yon and brother, Robert Wasson and his wife, Maureen of Maine.

Barry grew up in Maine and after graduating from high school, he joined the U.S. Air Force and earned his college degree in Miami, Florida. After proudly serving our country for 21 years, he worked as a contracting supervisor at NV Energy until his retirement in 2016.

The moment he laid eyes on Nak Yon, it was love at first sight and he knew he wanted to spend the rest of his life by her side. They traveled the world together, seeing the most magnificent sights in England, Alaska, Thailand, Korea, Philippines, Australia, Russia, Germany and countless beautiful places. Barry and Nak Yon shared 45 amazing, loving years together as husband and wife.

At their final resting place at Rose Hills Memorial Park, Barry’s burial plot is located beneath Nak’s plot. This symbolizes Barry’s timeless commitment to love and support Nak eternally when her time arrives to join him in the spiritual world.

Golf was Barry’s second love and after a round of golf, Barry loved to spend time with his friends with an ice-cold glass of beer or two…sitting at the bar at Sundance Kid Café, surrounded by multiple TV screens and watching various sporting events at the same time. This was Barry’s way of wrapping up a great Sunday!

Barry was an active member of the Soka Gakkai International (SGI) and practiced Nichiren Buddhism since 1982. He had a great passion to share buddhism with others and joyfully participated in SGI activities.

Barry was a man of great integrity and he will be greatly missed. Please join us and let’s honor and celebrate his life on:
