Barbara Ann White, 76, passed from this life on September 13, 2017 in Henderson, Nevada. She was born in Massachusetts on February 28, 1941, the daughter of Leo and Ann Austin. She is survived by her children: Daniel (Cheryl), Christopher (Judy), Kevan (Rhonda), and Erin Ann (Garren); stepson, James White; grandchildren: Christina, Bryan, Laura Ann, Kayla, Philip, Sarah, Rachael Ann, and Tristan; sister and brother-in-law: Tom and Jackye Pehrson; niece, Tina Levell; and family members: Elaine Patriquin, Gillian Mallo (Job, Ava and Hudson Mallo); and her loving caretaker, Gigi Lasam. She is proceeded in death by her parents; her nephew, Tommy; and husbands, George Patriquin and, Alfred White.
Although she was a gifted singer, a caring social worker, and a successful jewelry and antique salesperson, her proudest titles were “Mom”, “Mama” and “Grammy.” She was a fearless protector of those she loved and a loyal friend to many. She loved hosting family holidays, complete with chess pie and beautiful gifts for everyone, and when family couldn’t come to her, she loved traveling to them from her home in Las Vegas, giving her the nickname “Grammy Las Vegas”.
Over the years, Mom supported her children in all of their endeavors and often appeared with them in musicals and reviews. She could belt out a bawdy Irish song or sweetly sing a lullaby, and her Italian and Irish heritage guaranteed she could hold her own in an argument.
One of her greatest joys was traveling with her mother, her sister and brother-in-law, and her husband, Al, and visiting the many friends she made through the years—friends whom she considered family. She was always reaching out to help those in need and gave countless hours to The Rainbow Company, a musical performance organization for special needs adults and children in Manchester, New Hampshire.
Mom heroically faced many hardships and relished many joys. She endured and survived surgeries, illnesses and injuries against all odds. As a woman of faith, she continually prayed for her family, always asking for God to keep a fence around them to protect them. After she hits a few yard sales and flea markets in heaven, she’ll be gathering all the family and friends who have gone before to keep that fence going.
