Barbara was born August 19, 1937 in Butler, GA to Sarah and Stonewall Durham. She had four sisters and three brothers. Her sister Dorothy preceded her in death in 2017.
Barbara moved to Massachusetts in 1953 to attend Roxbury Memorial High School for Girls. She would later go on to earn an associate's degree in business. She married Walter on May 12, 1957 and became a military wife. Together they had four children. They settled in Lake Forest, CA, where Walter retired from the Marine Corps in 1985.
Barbara began her career in the banking industry starting as a teller at the Marine Air Federal Credit Union in 1970 and working her way up to Vice President of Operations before she retired to Henderson, NV in 1999. She received many accolades, certifications, and awards throughout her 30 years in the credit union and financial industry.
She loved being surrounded by her four children, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, watching politics and talking politics with her sisters, and attending church. She also enjoyed playing Bingo every weekend.
Barbara is survived by her children, Steven Morton of Atlanta, GA, Barbara Cormier, David Morton, and Sara Mays of Henderson, NV; three sisters, Shirley Thomas and Melissa Watkins of Atlanta, GA and Gloria Thompson of Las Vegas NV; three brothers, Stonewall Durham, Fred Durham, and Wayne Durham, all of Atlanta, GA and many, many loving, caring friends.
