Barbara Seeley Kelly

Barbara Seeley Kelly, 83, a resident of Las Vegas, passed away peacefully at home on July 20, 2024 surrounded by her children. Barbara suffered from dementia for several years and was anxious to go home.

She was born August 23, 1940 in Carlsbad, New Mexico to Reynolds “Rex” and Helen Seeley. She married Ronald O. Kelly on June 16, 1990 in the Los Angeles, California LDS Temple for time and all eternity. Ron predeceased Barbara on November 7, 2019, and was greatly missed. She is survived by her brothers Bobby Seeley and Eddie Seeley and her sister Kathy DuBose (Tom).

Barbara attended New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, New Mexico and was an avid reader and an accomplished seamstress. She loved sewing for her children and made many matching Easter outfits of which photographic evidence still exists! She was a loving and devoted mother to her three children, Jana, Jill and Jim. She worked hard as a legal secretary for many, many years to provide for her family in private law firms as well as AeroJet General Corporation in La Jolla, California. Barbara was definitely one of the smartest women we’ve ever known and set a great example for us of hard work, and always encouraged education of all sorts.

Service was important to Barbara and her husband Ron as they were heavily involved in the Kiwanis club in Lakeside, California. Barbara also loved serving as Mrs. Clause to Ron’s Santa every year and brightened so many lives doing so. Mostly Mom loved being a Mom and loved even more becoming a Grandma or Grammie to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also loved being Aunt Barbara to her nieces and nephews.

Barbara is survived by her children, Jana Rivard (Alain), Jim Marshall (Claudia), Jillian Marshall, her step-children Kim Harkins (Rich), Kristy Kearney (Mike), Kerry Kelly, and Kory Kelly (Kathy), 17 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.

A visitation for Barbara will be held Saturday August 3, 2024 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1801 S. Monte Cristo Way, Las Vegas, NV 89117. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Barbara will be laid to rest alongside her beloved Ron on Monday, August 5, 2024 at 10:40 am at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, Boulder City, NV 89005.
