Audrey Jean Motter, age 85, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2024, in Las Vegas, Nevada. She was born on October 8, 1938, at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Chicago, Illinois, to her late parents, Frank and Frances Vertnik.
Audrey had a remarkable career, first as a dedicated physical therapist, followed by a distinguished 31-year service as a deputy sheriff in DuPage County, Illinois, where she retired with honor.
Audrey’s life was full of adventure, laughter, and cherished moments with her family. She was an avid fisherwoman, enjoyed bowling, and loved to travel, although she preferred to keep her feet on the ground and never flew. Her favorite pastimes included houseboating on Lake Taney Como and Lake of the Ozarks, and she had a passion for visiting casinos. Audrey also enjoyed being an active member of the Sunshine Club and the Women’s Club, where she built lasting friendships and created wonderful memories.
Family was the heart of Audrey's life. A loving wife, caring mother, and adoring grandmother, she cherished every moment spent with her loved ones. Whether it was a holiday gathering or simply sharing laughter with those closest to her, Audrey’s home was always filled with warmth, love, and joy. She will be deeply missed by her husband, Leroy E. Motter; her sister, Shirley Malinowski; her children, Scott A. Busse (wife Lisa Busse), DeAnne Richardson, and Christine Kliebhan (husband Robert Kliebhan); her grandchildren, Steven Busse, Darren Busse, Joshua Busse, Heather Bush, Brittany Garbbert, Kyle Kliebhan, Brian Hammond, Bryce Richardson, Lindsay Boston, Taylor Munroe, and Keli Kliebhan; and her 15 great-grandchildren. Audrey was preceded in death by her beloved parents and her son, Steven J. Busse.
A visitation for Audrey will be held on Monday, October 7, 2024, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Palm Mortuary - Cheyenne, 7400 West Cheyenne Avenue, Las Vegas, NV 89129. A funeral service will occur on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, from 10:40 AM to 11:20 AM at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Dr, Boulder City, NV 89005.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Audrey's memory to a non-political charity of your choice. Her loving spirit, generosity, and fun-loving nature will be remembered and cherished by all who knew her.
