Audrey Farley was born in Chicago, Illinois on January 5, 1949 to the late Artie Scott. Audrey attended Hirsch High School and went on to attend Kennedy-King College. Audrey accepted Christ at a young age, and was a member of the Chatham-Avalon Church of Christ.
Audrey was a hard worker, she worked at the University of Illinois Hospitals for 25 years. Upon retiring she worked part-time as an activities coordinator for a local nursing home. She later married Leonard Farley on November 29, 2003, and was a full-time homemaker. Audrey had a green thumb, she loved plants, gardening and reading, but she was passionate about baking - she was affectionately known as "the cookie lady". She even created a special "doggie cookie" for her beloved JJJ.
Audrey was actively involved in her community as a member of the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP), a board member and treasurer of Morgan Park Christian Church for over 30 years, and cancer awareness advocate. Audrey was a speaker at women's conferences on the topic of faith and health, and in 2009 she started the "Angel Plus 1" annual pink party to raise awareness of breast cancer within the faith community. She openly shared her 18-year battle against breast cancer with anyone and everyone that she could encourage.
On December 24, 2016 Audrey departed this earthly life. She leaves to cherish her memory: husband, Leonard Farley; sisters Eva Martin and Cynthia Scott; niece Roberta Martin; Goddaughter Lolita Cleveland; and a host of Christian family and friends.
