She received her education within the Louisiana public school system and graduated from G.W. Griffin High School in 1956. Seeking more of what life had to offer than in Louisiana. In 1961 she moved to Las Vegas, Nevada where she met and married the love of her life, Lenox (Cooter) Carr. By the grace of GOD, together they were able to raise three sons and two daughters.She became a member of Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church in 1969.
Annie Mae worked in the hotel industry for more than forty years at the Tropicana Hotel & Casino Resort. The Lord saw fit that she was able to celebrate her retirement on January 10, 1998.
