It is with great sadness that we announce the loss of our beloved mother and grandmother, Ann Love McPherson, on March 9, 2023. Ann was born in Dallas, Texas on September 10, 1935. She left at a young age and lived briefly in El Segundo, CA where her father worked for an oil company. Following his passing, when Ann was still a young girl, she moved to Las Vegas with her mother, Vera, who started a successful real estate business – Vera Love Realty. While living in Las Vegas, Ann married and had two daughters – Wendy was born in 1961 and Kathlyn in 1962. While raising her young girls, Ann began her professional career. Starting in 1967, she worked at the Sunrise Medical Center for the next 16 years moving up to becoming the Assistant Executive Director. During this same period, Ann’s drive to learn and grow led her to pursue further education and in 1973 she received her Business Degree from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV.)
Ann remarried James Robert “Bob” McPherson in 1980, and soon thereafter moved to Carmel-by-the-Sea, CA. Once settled there, Ann began a long and successful career at the VNA & Hospice, Inc. By the time she departed, Ann was Vice President & Director of Planned Giving and Facility planning. Ann and Bob also started their own real estate company, Love Realty & Associates.
Ann and Bob thoroughly enjoyed their lives in beautiful Carmel, and they were active members of their community. A few of Ann’s many local board positions and memberships included the Monterey Peninsula Women’s Club, Soroptimists of Carmel Bay, Monterey Federal Credit Union, and The Church of the Wayfair.
Despite their busy schedules, Bob and Ann found plenty of time for fun and relaxation. They travelled frequently to Yosemite and Mt. Shasta, organized yearly camping adventures with their growing extended family, and whenever they got the chance, could be found ‘cutting a rug’ out on the dance floor.
Following Bob’s passing in 2016, Ann moved back to Las Vegas where she continued to bring joy and happiness to her many friends and family members. Ann had a real zest for life. With a pep to her step and eyes that truly sparkled, Ann lit up any room she entered, and brought smiles to all those around her.
Ann will be eternally loved and honored by her daughters, Wendy Woods and Kathlyn Wagner (Gary); Bob’s daughters Virginia Hill and Laurie McPherson; and her grandchildren, Robbyn Woods, Owen and Ellena Whitfield, Kyle, Randall and Kevin Hill.
A private scattering of her ashes will be attended by her loving family.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.palmeastern.com for the McPherson family.
