Andrew Scott Katz - January 9, 1962 – February 23, 2016 Andrew Scott Katz (Andy) passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 in Las Vegas, following a 35-year weekend reunion of Alpha Epsilon Pi, that included his beloved Rebels winning in overtime. He was 54 years old. Son of Beatrice and Michael Katz, Andy was born January 9, 1962 in Long Island, New York. He attended Valley High School and graduated from the University of Las Vegas Lee Business School. Andy received his degree in Business Management. Andy was President of Manpower of Southern Nevada, the company his parents founded in 1964, a franchise of ManpowerGroup. Andy proudly represented Manpower of Southern Nevada in the community and served on several Boards including Las Vegas Southwest Rotary, Las Vegas Executives Association, the Public Education Foundation and the Better Business Bureau. As a long time UNLV champion, Andy was passionate about the UNLV sports program. Andy, loving son, brother, uncle, friend and passionate community leader, was truly one of a kind. Friends describe Andy as a kind and caring man, with a beautiful heart, and wonderful spirit. He was one of the most generous individuals and will be missed by everyone who knew him. Andy is survived by his mother, Beatrice Katz, brothers Mel and wife Linda, Bob Katz and Elizabeth Menefee, sister Anne Katz and husband Joe Kritzer, nieces Lindsey, Ashley, Danielle, Erica, Sarah and Leah and nephews, Jeff, Nicholas, Nathan and Jake. Andy always had a smile to share and was often heard remarking, “I love my life!” Services will be held on Friday, February 26th, 1:00 p.m. at Temple Beth Sholom, 10700 Havenwood Lane, Las Vegas, 89135; followed by graveside services at Palm Eastern Cemetery, 7600 S. Eastern Avenue, Las Vegas, 89123. A scholarship at UNLV has been established in honor of Andy. In lieu of flowers, the Katz family asks that a gift be given to the Andy Katz Memorial Scholarship Fund at the UNLV Foundation.
