Amor was born in Vintar, Ilocos Norte, a small town in the Philippines on February 11, 1932. He was the 7th son of Faustino and Fortunata Gamiao who were farmers and raised their children on the farm. Faustino was a hardworking man and raised his children in a very disciplined way. Amor learned much from his father not only in raising his family but his love for the farm. Faustino died young and Amor was thrust into the responsibility of helping raise his siblings.
Even in difficult times, Amor worked hard to pursue his education. He went to college, graduated and became a teacher. Years after graduating from college, he married his long-time girlfriend, Excelencia Nagtalon on April 6, 1959. They were richly blessed with seven children. He started teaching at F. Camaquin Elementary School and gradually rose in rank to become the head teacher and then principal.
Amor immigrated to the United States in 1978 in order to give his children a better life and opportunity. He arrived in Honolulu, Hawaii by himself and joined his brothers Amadeo and Honorio. He joined Equitable Insurance as an agent where he excelled in his job. He was joined by his wife and children three years later. He was a good provider, loving husband, caring father and most of all he loved his grandchildren.
After retiring from Equitable Insurance, he came to Las Vegas with his wife in 1997. He loved to entertain relatives and friends from the old country. He traveled everywhere during his retirement including going back to visit friends and relatives in Vintar, Ilocos Norte and all over the United States. He loved to garden and planted vegetables to share with everybody. Amor and Excelencia loved the Lord Jesus Christ and joined the First Fil-Am Baptist Church where they are well respected and beloved by all.
Amor went to the Lord on April 20, 2012 with his family at his side. He will be deeply missed. He is survived by his wife Excelencia, his seven children and 14 grandchildren.
