Alex Clearnest Bowie was born on February 19, 1928 in Bernice, Louisiana to the late parents of Anna and George Edward Bowie. He was the fourth of seven children and the only son. Alex had two children who preceded him in death, Steven Bowie and Eric C. Bowie. Alex spent several years in the Bay Area of California where he later met and married Charlesena Wright in June of 1990 becoming a loving and devoted husband and caring step-father to her children. Alex gave his life to Christ at an early age. He and his wife later relocated to Las Vegas in 2000, where they found a new church home and began attending Foothill Baptist Church on West Cheyenne where he served as a faithful member and class leader for many years.
Alex was inducted into the United States Army in February of 1946 and faithfully served his country for over twenty-two years. He was a veteran of both the Korean and Vietnam wars and was honorably discharged in September of 1968.
Alex served as Inspector General, Past Grand Lodge Officer, Past Potentate and Past Master for The Most Wonderful Hiram of Tyre Grand Lodge AF&AM.
Alex leaves to cherish his memory a devoted wife of over 28 years, two sisters Opal Smith and Addie Robinson, eight step-children, a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter as well as an array of relatives and friends.
Alex your suffering is over! You will be sorely missed! You are loved by all but God loved you more. REST IN PEACE! We can’t wait to meet you on that great day.
