Albert F. “Al” Greenhalgh, 85, passed away Sunday, January 6, 2019 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was born January 7, 1933 to Elizabeth and James Greenhalgh in Brooklyn, New York. Albert served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. After his time in the service, he returned to New York to serve his community as a volunteer fireman, a construction foreman and a NY state corrections officer, which he retired from in 1995 after 25 years of service. He was a wonderful devoted husband, father, grandfather, coach and friend. He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Maryann; children, Theresa (Rob), Jane (Michael) and Albert (Stephanie); grandchildren, Alan, Zach, Margaret and Ally; and siblings Doris, Betty and Robert. In his retirement, he enjoyed golfing, traveling and spending time with family, especially his darling grandchildren. Services will be held Saturday, February 2, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, followed by a Celebration of Life at Normanside Country Club. The family requests that any gifts or memorials are made in the form of donations to either the Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health in Las Vegas, Nevada or Meals on Wheels in Citrus County, Florida. Al was an all-around wonderful man and will be missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. May he rest in peace for eternity.
