Adrian Santiago Closas was an expressive, optimistic, and kind individual with a great sense of humor. To everyone around him, he seemed to be eternally happy, and he willingly shared that joy with anyone whose life he touched. For Adrian, bringing out the best in any situation was as easy as offering a smile, a witty remark or the twinkle of an eye. And with just those simple gestures, he could evoke the most pleasant of emotions. Adrian had a wonderful life and he enjoyed every moment.
Adrian was born on March 31, 1969 in Manila, Philippines. His parents were Denisa and Osmundo Closas. Adrian was raised in Bremerton, Washington. Even as a child, Adrian had the ability to lift the spirits of all those around him. He was raised to be warm, caring and friendly. He couldn’t help but capture everyone’s attention. He was definitely a little bit of a show off, but in doing so, he succeeded in entertaining his entire family.
Always a good playmate, Adrian was easygoing and fun loving. He managed to lighten the mood wherever he was. He seemed to have a knack for bringing compromise and erasing tense situations around the house. Adrian was raised with three siblings. He had two sisters, Linsey, and Sheryl, and one younger brother, Osmundo. In his spare time, he took part in baseball and played the piano.
Adrian graduated from Olympic High School in 1987. It could be said that for Adrian, grades may not have been the most important thing to him, but he really did enjoy his school experience. Rather, Adrian simply enjoyed others’ laughter and the sounds of his friends and acquaintances having a good time. It was easy for him to make friends because everyone was drawn to his good nature.
Adrian never actually encountered a stranger in his dealings with people. Whether it was a story, a joke, a song or just plain fooling around, Adrian was always right at home hanging out with his friends. Some of his best friends were PJ, Allan, Phil, John, and Chito. Adrian loved sharing life and having his home filled with people he knew.
The gift of being emotionally expressive and outwardly affectionate made Adrian very easy to approach. On November 31, 2001 Adrian exchanged wedding vows with Elizabeth Saculo at the Court House in Port Orchard, Washington. Elizabeth was the love of his life. He was always sensitive to her feelings. They were inseparable and he was there for her when she needed him the most. On special occasions, he would wake her up with a special song or make her a card or write her a love letter filled with thoughtful and kind words that would remind Elizabeth how special their love truly is.
Adrian was blessed with two children, one daughter, Heather, and one son, Marcus. Adrian had the ability to focus his attention on the present moment. If he was spending time with the kids, that’s where all of his attention was directed. Adrian's compassionate side prevented him from being a strict disciplinarian, and he could turn just about any situation into a playful, learning experience. He could spend hours entertaining them with fun and creative play. In fact, Adrian had a knack for turning some of those nasty old chores into games.
Adrian was an Air Force veteran. He was in the military for four years and spent most of his time in Los Angeles, California, Alaska, and New Mexico.
At work, as in life, Adrian was a real “people person.” He had a very successful way of dealing effectively with others, and his enthusiasm and energy was often contagious. For thirty years, Adrian's primary occupation was Physical Therapy, but in recent years, he spent time in Real Estate as a realtor and a lender.
Adrian enjoyed his leisure time by taking part in various hobbies. His favorite pursuits were going to the gym and working out but most of all; he loved spending time with family and friends. Adrian was content to enjoy his hobbies alone but was also willing to share his interests with others. Adrian did not play many sports but when he had the time, he enjoyed watching, volleyball and his beloved Seattle Seahawks play football. He was a lover of animals and cherished his pets, enjoying them almost as much as he enjoyed being around other people. He cherished the time he spent with Bubba and Mahe. They were the best of friends for fourteen years.
Adrian recently moved with his family to Las Vegas, Nevada. Being a resident for the last two years, he loved what the city had to offer. He and Elizabeth loved going to concerts and shows together. Adrian also loved to travel but one of his most memorable trips was going back home to the Philippines to visit old friends and family.
Adrian passed away on May 5, 2018. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth, Daughter, Heather, son Marcus, father, Osmundo, mother, Denisa, sisters, Linsey and Sheryl, and brother, Osmundo Jr. Adrian's memory will be cherished by a large extended family and many close friends. Services were held at Palm Northwest Mortuary in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Adrian brought joy to all of those around him. He never had a mean bone in his body. He loved to have a good time and was an eternal optimist, always looking on the bright side of things. He loved to share his energy, wit, and his zest for all of his activities with his friends and family. Adrian Santiago Closas lived life to its fullest and made everyone around him happier just for knowing him. He will be remembered with a smile.
