ROSE, Dr. Scott Neil age 79 of Seminole died Feb 11, 2011 under the care of Suncoast Hospice at his home. He was born in Rochester NY and has been a resident of Seminole since the late 1950’s. Dr. Rose graduated from South Park High School in Buffalo, NY. He married his high school sweetheart, Joan, in 1952. He was a US Navy veteran serving during the Korean War Dr. Rose received his Bachelors, Masters and Doctorate degrees from the University of Florida, and was an avid Gator fan. He was an active member of St. Dunstan’s Anglican Church in Largo. He also was a member of many educational civic organizations including the Seminole Kiwanis Club. Dr. Rose was the principal at Seminole High School from 1965 to 1970, and as superintendent of Pinellas County Schools from 1981 to 1991. Survivors include a son Scott A. Rose, daughter Ruth Gorlin, grandchildren; John Joseph Healey, Leland Gorlin and David Gorlin. He is preceded in death by his wife Joan H. Rose who passed away in 2007, and daughter Constance L Healey. Funeral services will be held on Wed Feb 16th at 3 pm at St. Dunstan’s Anglican Church 403 First Ave SW Largo. Visitation will take place on Tuesday Feb 15th at Moss Feaster Funeral Home Serenity Gardens Chapel in Largo from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. Interment will take place in Serenity Gardens Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the Scott and Joan Rose Scholarship Foundation at Pinellas Education Foundation 12090 Starkey Road Largo FL 33773 or Suncoast Hospice Foundation 5771 Roosevelt Blvd Clearwater FL 33760-9962. A Celebration of Life reception will be held on Wednesday at 5 pm at the Largo Cultural Center in Largo Central Park.
