He was born in Cedarville, NJ to William W. Jeffers Sr. and Anna Hildreth.
Sam joined the Air Force in 1954 and became a bomber jet mechanic. He served at Sampson
AFB, New York; Warren AFB, Cheyenne, WY; Presque Isle AFB in Maine; McCoy AFB in
Orlando, FL; Davis-Monthan AFB in Tucson, AZ; Ernest Harmon AFB in Newfoundland; and
Brookley AFB in Mobile, AL.
Helen and Sam met in Orlando and were married for 61 years. The family moved to Florida in
1965 after Sam left the Air Force and lived primarily in St. Petersburg, Largo and Palm Harbor.
He was a St. Petersburg firefighter and worked in various capacities at the Post Office in St.
Petersburg, Largo, Seminole and Holiday. They were members of North Bay Community
Church.
He was predeceased by his wife Helen Jeffers, parents, sister Mary Hepner, brothers William
Jeffers Jr., Allan Jeffers, and John Jeffers. Sam is survived by daughter Linda Borgia and
husband Joe, daughter Julie Boatright and husband Tim, grandchildren Marisa Schrader,
Matthew Borgia, Alyson Boatright and Scott Boatright, one great grandchild Samuel Schrader,
nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank the Regal Palms and Hospice staff members for the wonderful and
loving care he received.
A graveside service with military honors will be held Friday, March 18 at 2:30 pm at Bay Pines
National Cemetery in Bay Pines, FL. Both he and Helen will be interred together.
