It is with deep sorrow and heartfelt love that we announce the passing of Ruth Davenport who left this world peacefully on November 08, 2024 at the age of 97. A beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, she lived life that was nothing short of extraordinary - one marked by unwavering kindness, curiosity and a zest for life.
Born on May 23, 1927 in Greenville, Michigan She was a woman who defied convention and embraced each moment with open arms. Her 97 years were filled with remarkable achievements. Ruth had a gift for making life richer for everyone she knew.
Her legacy is defined not by the number of years she lived but by the impact she had.
Ruth was the epitome of grace and strength, a steady presence in the lives of those who knew her. She had the ability to make everyone feel welcome and loved.
But it was her role as a matriarch that she cherished most. Ruth was the cornerstone of her family, always ready with a listening ear, a word of wisdom, or laugh. Her love for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren knew no bounds, and her life is a testament to the importance of family and the joy of living each day to the fullest.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alden B. Davenport, her daughter Sandra S. Ezell, her son John A. Davenport, her brother Frank Nelson, brother Richard Nelson and sister Violet Nelson. She is survived by her son Douglas J. Davenport, Sr., (Bonnie), grandchildren Douglas J. Davenport, Jr., Jason C. Davenport, (Samantha), Jeremy S. Thomas, Heather R. Breckenridge, (Ken Logan), Dana B. Thomas, (Adrienne), Joseph D. Thomas, John M. Davenport, (Polly). Survivors also include many great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces and many friends.
A celebration of her incredible life will be held on November 25, 2024, 1:30 p.m. at Serenity Gardens Funeral Home, 13401 Indian Rocks Rd., Largo FL 33774. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to Accent Care/Seasons Hospice 17757 U.S. Highway 19 N. Suite 300 Clearwater FL 33764 or a donation to a charity of your choice.
While we will dearly miss her physical presence, we take comfort in knowing that her spirit lives on in each of us. Ruth taught us all the power of living with purpose and the beauty of embracing life.
