Born in Ozone Park Queens, NYC on February 13th, 1931 to Nicholas James Zummo and Giacoma "Anna" Zummo (Nee LaCascia). Her father was a plumber and her mother was a seamstress during the Great Depression. As most families did, it was a struggle to find work and provide for the family. Her father found work in the WPA which required him to travel and her mother was in sweatshops sewing for many hours a day. Rosemarie became responsible for the housework, cooking and her younger sister at a very young age. Her entire life was shaped by those years of responsibility, insecurity and worry.
In 1954 at the age of 23 she went on a blind date set up by a few friends. That's where she met Sal who became her husband just a few months later. Sal was from the Bronx and she was from Queens, making it a seemingly mixed marriage. The marriage lasted 70 years producing two children, 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She also loved animals. She always had pets in the house to the dismay of her husband but her love of the animals truly enriched her life each day. She pampered and spoiled her pets as much as she did her children and husband.
Rosemarie was many things in life. Worked at the FAA at Idlewild Airport (Kennedy) in the 1950's , held part time jobs as an office worker who could type 100 words a minute and take shorthand notes of complex meetings. Her favorite role of all was a Mother.
She brought the lessons of early life to bear on raising her family and was a serious homemaker. She cooked several meals a day (exceptionally well) and made sure everyone had too much food. She was a supreme coupon clipper long before it was in fashion and stretched those dollars better than any economist could even attempt. The house was always spotless, just the way she liked it, even with plastic coverings on the couches and chairs. The house was her domain and nobody questioned her, even her husband treaded lightly.
Leaving New York and moving to Florida in 1977 opened a whole new life for her. She still took care of the household and her family but branched out by becoming the local Avon lady selling all over Seminole for well over 10 years. She also was in a bowling league up until 15 years ago.
Her son, Thomas N. Reale predeceased her in 2003. He has three children
Danny Nichols, Samantha Reale and AmberRose Reale.
Her son, Nicholas J Reale and his wife Shelly Steck Reale have two children
Nicholas R Reale, Austin S Reale.
Danny Nichols and Dawn Nichols have two children

Samantha Reale has two children

She is survived by her husband, Salvatore Reale.
All in all she had a long life and loved her family, her animals, her home and her husband.
We miss you Mom.
