Ronald Hatton

He was born in Marianna, FL to Jamie Lee Carlton and Robert Wayne Hatton. Ron, known as Ronnie West of the Apalachicola River, graduated from Marianna High School then Chipola Junior College where he played baseball before receiving his Bachelor’s degree and MBA from Florida State University.

Ron was a 1LT in the US Army, serving in Vietnam. After an honorable discharge, he completed his studies at FSU and went on to have a 37 year career for GTE, later Verizon where he spent many years working on their public safety and 911 program.

An avid lover of the beach, he was most at home in the kitchen or in front of a grill during large and often impromptu gatherings of friends and family. If not there, he could be found making mixtapes with his many cousins.

He is survived by his wife Beverly; son John Robert of Tampa; daughter Laura Allison, her husband Jin Qian, and granddaughter Yin Lian of Cuddebackville, NY; sister Barbara Herring and husband Howard of Marianna, FL.

A visitation for Ronald will be held Friday, December 1, 2023 from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM at Serenity Funeral Home, 13401 Indian Rocks Road, Largo, FL 33774. A funeral service will occur Friday, December 1, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, 13401 Indian Rocks Road, Largo, FL 33774. A graveside service will occur Friday, December 1, 2023 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Serenity Gardens Memorial Park, 13401 Indian Rocks Road, Largo, FL 33774.
