Richard William Alles, 86 of Largo passed away peacefully at Suncoast Hospice of Pinellas on Monday January 16. His wife of 33 years Riekie, was at his side. Richard was born in St. Louis Missouri 12/5/1930, the only child of William and Helen Alles. Richard served two years in the Army during the Korean was and served as a psychiatric medic. Upon his discharge he attended UCLA and received his bachelors degree there. He received masters degrees from Highlands University, St. John's, and Stony Brook. He served as school psychologist for the Cold Spring Harbor School district for 35 years in Long Island. He was an avid amateur athlete and enjoyed all kinds of sports with his children and friends including golf, basketball, tennis and windsurfing. His biggest love was his children. He is survived by his sons Rick, David and Steve Alles, by his daughter Tracy Anise, and stepson Tim Ehrlich and stepdaughter Lisa Ehrlich, and by nine grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He was a member of Oakhurst United Methodist church and attended every Sunday he was physically able to. His family and friends will remember and treasure his sense of humor, and especially his love and interest in their lives.
