He was born on November 27, 1940, in Berlin, Germany and spent his childhood with his grandmother and two aunts in West Berlin. After completing Grammar School, he began working in construction and eventually specialized in cabinetry and cabinet installation. After living behind the Berlin wall for many years, he decided to move to Ohio, learned to speak English and became a United States citizen.
Ralf eventually moved to Florida where he lived in Pinellas County until he decided to build his house in Manatee County before he retired. He and his wife, Karen, have enjoyed living there and maintained six acres, and enjoyed working outside in the garden and watching evening sunsets on the swing.
Besides gardening and building, Ralf loved traveling, visiting National Parks, listening to music, dancing, playing Chess, meeting people, spending time with his family and watching wrestling with the dogs.
Ralf is survived by his wife, Karen Barthold, his daughter, Jasmine Giacalone (Mike), his stepdaughter, Tracy Beatty (Jeff), his stepson, Sean Pulver (Brenda) and his three grandchildren, Skylar, Dean, and Clay.
Ralf’s love and affection for his family at family gatherings will remain with us forever.
Hugs and Kisses Dear Opa!
A Graveside Service for Ralf will be held Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at 1pm in the Serenity Gardens Memorial Park, 13401, Indian Rocks Road, Largo, FL 33774
