Born October 14, 1935, in Lynn, MA he proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1956 to 1961. After working at General Electric in Lynn, where he met the love of his life Brenda, he yearned for more and moved his family to Largo, FL in 1964 where he was a Letter Carrier for 32+ years.
He is predeceased by his mother, Maude Winter and stepfather Arthur Winter as well as his loving wife, Brenda Doherty of whom he shared 38 years until her passing in October 1999. He is survived by his 3 sons, Scotty Doherty (Aimee), Danny Doherty (Kelson), Jimmy Doherty (Susan), 6 beautiful grandchildren, Ashley Wilder (Joshua), Dinah Doherty, Darrah Doherty, Sean Doherty, Gracie Doherty and Gabbi Doherty, one great grandchild, Aiden Wilder a niece, Nikki Brown, nephew Kevin Brown, favorite sister-in-law Judi Brown, all who loved him very much and never passed up an opportunity to spend time with him.
Philip was an avid New England sports fan as well as a love of NASCAR. He would often be seen wearing one of their team jerseys or his Dale Earnhardt t-shirt. In retirement he focused on his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchild. A picture of one of them was never out of his sight or mind.
Services honoring Philip will be held privately by his family.
