Peter L. Frank Jr.

Peter L Frank Jr. of Belleair passed away peacefully Monday February 11th, 2019 at approximately 6:15pm surrounded by his sons. Peter was born May 12th, 1929 to Peter & Josephine Frank of Pittsburgh, PA. He was a big brother to his sister Dorothea (Dot). He attended catholic school at St. Mary of the Mount graduating in 1946 then attended the University of Pittsburgh graduating in 1951 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology followed by entering the Army. His induction was at Ft. Dix and his basic training was at Ft. Jackson, SC. He was in the Heavy Weapons Infantry 8th Division. He was then assigned to Ft. Leavenworth and was selected to attend Medical Field School. While in service he married his sweetheart Mary Ellen Share. They met earlier on a blind date, a double date with Mary Ellen’s sister Phyllis. For Peter it worked out and as they say the rest is history. Peter took leave and married Mary Ellen on October 22nd, 1951. Finishing his time with the Army Peter & Mary Ellen headed back to Pittsburgh where they raised 4 boys. Peter worked within his field of phycology first with Psychological Services of Pittsburgh where they provided testing services and executive profiles for large company’s like US Steel and Jones & Laughlin. He then worked for the Pennsylvania Dept. of Correction, State Penitentiary System. He became a subject matter expert on recidivism and rehabilitation. The bulk of his career was working as a counseling psychologist with the Veterans Administration moving to Florida in 1974 and rising to a high rank within the VA before retiring. Peter lead a full life and now can join Mary Ellen in eternal rest keeping an eye on all of us who loved them so much. God’s speed Peter your family loves and misses you already. Peter is survived by his sister Dorothea Campbell of Pittsburgh, his immediate family Peter & Carol Frank Concord, NC, David & Stephanie Frank, Oldsmar, Jeffery & Kirsten Frank, St. Petersburg, John & Barbara Frank, Clearwater. He is also survived and loved by his seven grandchildren, Jay, Joshua, Madison, Kaitlyn, Mary Ellen (Mel), Nicole & Samantha Frank.
