Mike Lamb was a dear friend for fifty years.  Over the last five years, he visited our family several times.  My grandkids loved 'Mr. Mike' and Mike enjoyed going to their soccer and baseball games, as well as teaching them to play hearts.

Mike was a special person who faced adversity boldly.  He was intelligent with an exceptional memory.  He was an inspiration in a humble, matter of fact way.  

His daughter, Jenny, and son, Scott know his love and exemplify his traits.  

We are grateful for Mike's life and many happy memories!

To Mike's family, you have our deepest sympathy.  Mike was a great man.  He over came so many obstacles in life with great spirit and pride.  He was a great friend to both my parents, Mary Kay and Jack Gardiepy.  I remember him when I was little playing baseball with us.  My dad would tell him where to pitch the ball.  Also, we have awesome memories spending time with Mike here in Minnesota.  May he rest in peace.  He will be missed.

To all of Mike's family you have our deepest sympathy.  Mike was a great friend.  Our hearts are heavy but Mike will always live on in our hearts.  His advocacy for the blind and for Guide Dog users will live on.  He made a difference in so many lives.

I first crossed paths with Mike in the 50's when I saw him riding his bike on the pavement behind Heege grade school.  He was clicking so he knew where the edge of the pavement was.  Later on I saw Mike in Affton High School where he was on the wrestling team. I was a year behind him. A neighbor of mine,Jim Harris, often led Mike from class to class through the crowded hallways. On a few occasions, when Jim was absent I got the privilege to lead Mike. I hadn't heard of Mike again for decades, then found him at a meeting, I think of the Florida Association of Guide Dog Users, in St. Petersburg.  Many of us will certainly miss him.

MEMO: HUNT MASTER TO RADAR
When E.V. first brought you to the Hunt Camp I thought "what the heck". But then I didn't know that you were exceptional. E.V., Colt 45 and Hartman took on your training to become a Scrub Hunter.
WEAPONS TRAINING. Shooting behind the dump. Pistol, shotgun and rifle in case you came across a deer, bear, squirrel or tweedy bird.
QUALIFIED JEEP DRIVER. Drive the narrow forest roads without hitting a pine tree which the forest service frowns upon.
NEXT CAMP ETIQUETTE AND RULES. Never complain about the food as that makes you the cook of the next meal. Rule 1. Never bet against Georgia when playing Florida. Rule 2. Always bet against Miss State. Rule 3. Never take Hartman to a FLA, FSU game in Gainesville. Socializing at the juke joint while drinking a beer. You were a good sport when playing poker and didn't complain when we said you could not deal when playing with your braille cards as with your memory you would know every ones hands. 
Mike those were good times that we had and I miss you and those times. God bless and my sympathy to your family.

For some reason, although I haven't seen Mike for a few years, I thought of him just days before his passing, and remembered the fun times we spent together after meeting at Christ Presbyterian Church.   I had always thought of Mike as a sweet, kind, and strong yet gentle man.  My friend Mike touched my life in such a way that, when my grandson was born, I insisted that his middle name be Michael, a strong yet gentle name.   My thoughts and prayers are with Mike's family.

Mike and I used to play cards together for hours when I was a teenager.  It always amazed me how well he played.  Even more amazing was his ability to calculate complex math problems in his head, in just seconds.  We NEVER were able to catch him with a wrong answer. I will treasure all the fun times we had together.

I will always have a place in my heart for Mike, how he could play the piano like nobody's business....remember every card played when we played Hearts..and how much he liked Dragnet.   Hoping he can see now.

I met Mike before out family moved from St. Petersburg.  It wasn't easy to find a group of friends in our new community like the ones I had left and when my 16th birthday arrived, none of my classmates were aware that it was a special occasion as the ones I had formerly celebrated.  The day was pretty mundane, but when I arrived home from school, I had a wonderful surprise: Mike sent me a card and an arrangement of yellow roses.
For a college student to take the time to see (and Mike saw things others did not) that a lonely teen needed to feel special meant the world to me.  I've never forgotten his kindness.

This seemingly small incident reminds me of God's grace.  I didn't have to do anything to earn the flowers, but they were given to me, just as God sent His Son to make it possible for us to enjoy heaven with him.  We need to receive it however, just as I accepted the bouquet from the kind heart of the giver.

So sorry to hear about Mike (Radar's) passing. 

I remember the good times we use to have at the hunting camp in Ocala National Forest. He knew a deer was close by before we even saw it. He was a very special person, and a great friend.

Thoughts and Prayers to all the family.

Mike always had a great since of humor. Mike loved to come to the hunt camp in the Ocala national Forrest.  Watching Mike "drive" in the old jeep with help with someone sitting behind and tapping him on his shoulder to go right or left was amazing.  Mike participated in all of our camp activities- playing poker, shooting shotgun, helping in kitchen and enjoying fellowship. Mike touched our lives in many ways.  He will be missed.

I was so sorry to learn that Mike had died. I remember him fondly from college years. He was a couple years ahead of me at Florida Presbyterian. I ran into him off and on again during the years after graduation, but I hadn't heard of him in at least 10 years. He will be missed.
