Margaret was born on July 21, 1935 in Soddy Daisy, Tennessee to Nellie and Jesse Pierce. Margaret married the love of her life, Herbert King on July 10th, 1954. Two days later, Herb was shipped overseas. After many love letters exchanged and two long years, he returned and they moved to Indiana to begin their story that we all know and love.
Raising two sons and her younger sister as her own Margaret was always busy. Her kids were her life and she was their biggest fan. She often stated that she would meet herself coming and going while running her kids around. As years passed she often reflected on how much she missed the nonstop hustle and bustle. Along with her motherly role, Margaret was also a business owner with her husband. She also enjoyed working in the kids’ school's lunchroom where she could sneak her children the biggest piece of pie possible. She artistically balanced these roles and still had the capacity to nurture not only her own children but her grandchildren and her extended family.
Margaret was never short of interests and filled with adventure. She managed to take everyday events such as shopping, cruising and traveling and crafted each of these experiences into funny, spicy and amazing stories that we all adore. She was a member of the Red Hatter’s Society in which she truly enjoyed the adventures and bonds created. Margaret enjoyed making crafts, baking, painting, and sewing. Most notably her passion for playing Yahtzee left stories, laughs and a lasting impact on all. She also appreciated all things family such as dinners, celebrations, holidays, etc. Along side of her for all family events were her two cats of 17 years, Baby Blue and Precious who were her rock and beacon of love.
Margaret was the matriarch of the King family. The glue that held the family together. She modeled the strength needed when handling the challenges and tribulations that life presented. The death that preceded her was great and she yearned to be beyond the pearly gates with her loved ones especially her love of her life, Herb. As her heartbeat took its last beat, the welcome party was grand. Her earthly physical and emotional pain was shed and love was replaced in all empty holes. We are all sad to say goodbye to this wonderful woman but we know that she is where she wants and leaves behind so many amazing stories, memories and traditions that created a legacy that will be passed down for generations to come.
