She was born on September 23, 1935 in Manchester, NH to Louise Chabot Demers and Albert Demers. In 1954, Lu graduated from Saint-Antonie de Padoue High School in Manchester.
She proudly completed her formal education with a Bachelor of Independent Study degree from University of South Florida in 1988. She was married to Laurence James Sweeney of Havertown, PA on July 13, 1957 until his death in 2004. Lu worked in administration for the Dept. of Defense, NOAA, and Johnson & Johnson.
She was survived by her children, Larry Sweeney (Wendy), Jeanette Sweeney, and Cay Sweeney-Kohl (Tony); her grandchildren, Sean, Matthew, Carly, Samuel, and Kate; and her sister, Doris Henderson.
She was a member of the One City Chorus and Taoist Tai Chi Society. Lu had a passion for traveling the world and attending performances of the St Petersburg Opera, Studio@620, and Freefall Theater.
