Leah Hause, 91, went home to be with her Lord on March 4, 2025.She was born on September 20, 1933, in Pottstown, Pennsylvania to the late Horace Jacob Sypherd and Lena Irene Sypherd. She was raised with her 5 siblings, Phoebe (D), John L, Betty Jane, Jacob, and James (D).
She met her husband, John, at the Acme grocery store where she took her mom shopping on Friday evenings. John was a produce clerk. The evening they met he was working in the back room and heard her familiar voice. He went out and met her on the pickle aisle. On their first date John told her his intention to move to Florida in the future. They were married on August 24, 1957, at Coventry Church of the Brethren in Pottstown. They resided in Boyertown, PA and welcomed three children, Debbie, Jeff and Susie into their family. John was hired by Fairchild Architects/Ruttenburg Homes in Clearwater, Florida in 1966. They packed up their cars and headed to Clearwater in July. She loved recalling how the Lord provided a home for them after much looking and specific praying. They were driving around Clearwater and saw a house with the sign, "For rent, for lease, for sale". They were able to lease the house and eventually own it. Leah lived there at her time of death. She shared that she did not unpack her boxes for a year just in case they headed back to Pennsylvania. However, she also shared that the best things the Lord ever did for her were introducing her to her husband and giving her the grace to move to Florida.
Leah began working at age 17 at Templin's store. She was a clerk and Templin's trusted her to open and close the store. During this time, she took classes to develop her secretarial skills. Feroe Press hired her to manage the front desk by answering phones and greeting people. She also used her secretarial skills taking dictation in shorthand and typing it up. When her first daughter was born in 1958, she became a stay-at-home mom. Her work outside the home did not resume until her children were older. She worked as a data prep clerk for Pinellas County School system until 1994.
She placed her faith in Christ alone at the age of 17. She said she always knew about the Lord because her mom had a deep faith and shared that will all her children. Her Lord was the most important part of her life. She served and encouraged because of her love for Christ until the Lord called her home.
Blessed to be her family, Leah is survived by three children: Debbie Delarbre (Ken) of Micanopy, FL, Jeff HAuse of Santa Cruz, Bolivia, South America, and Susie King (Rich) of Clearwater, FL; eight grandchildren, Marie Cranstonhause (Jonathan)of Meriden, CT, Brittany Hause of Meriden, Ct, Steven Hause currently in Madrid, Spain, Paul Hause of Redmond, WA, Leah Joy King of Pinellas Park, FL, Olivia Rogers of Georgia, Bailey King of Clearwater, FL and Hannah Johnson (Daniel) of Clearwater, FL; four great grandsons, Robin, Noel and Avery Cranstonhause, Dominic Christman: brothers John and Jacob (Marie), sister, Betty (Joe), sisters-in-law, Pat, Barb and Sally; and a host of much-loved nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
