THOMPSON, John E, 95 of Seminole, FL passed away on Wednesday, February 14, 2018. John was born November 10, 1922 in Iowa City, Iowa. He grew up in the small Iowa farming community of West Branch and graduated from high school there. John farmed in West Branch until joining First National Bank in Iowa City where he worked for 22 years in various capacities, retiring as 2nd Vice President, responsible for Customer Services. He was active in the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite and Order of the Eastern Star serving as Worthy Grand Patron of Iowa Grand Chapter and was Senior Grand Deacon, Grand Lodge of Iowa. John and Barbara retired to Florida in 1985.
John married Barbara M Rummells in 1943. She predeceased him on August 20, 2007. Surviving are two loving daughters Susan (David) Kinsey and Martha (Stephen) Resotko, three grandchildren Leah Keeley, Thomas Temeyer & Peter Swarr and four great grandchildren Amanda Mercer, Ashley Temeyer, Lucy Swarr and Eli Swarr.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be offered to the Museum of Fine Arts of St Petersburg or the Pasadena Community Church where he was a member.
A Celebration of His Life will be held on Monday, February 19, 2018 at 4pm in the auditorium at Freedom Square, 7800 Liberty Lane, Seminole, FL.
