Jerry grew up in Marion and graduated from Marion Harding High School. He furthered his education at Ohio State University, where he earned his bachelor's degree, and later completed a master's degree at the University of Mississippi.
A lifelong educator, Jerry dedicated his career to teaching and coaching in Gibsonburg, Ohio, and at Seminole High School in Florida, where he made a lasting impact on countless students and athletes. His love for sports and mentoring young people extended beyond the classroom, and he was also known as the “Voice of the Warhawks,” where he passionately called games.
On December 19, 1970, Jerry married Alma Griffith, his loving wife for over 54 years. Together, they built a wonderful life, raising a family filled with love and pride. Jerry was a devoted fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes.
He is survived by his wife, Alma Griffith; son, Greg Griffith of Columbus, Ohio; daughters, Amy Millard (Brad) of Atlanta, Georgia, and Laura Lassen (Ryan) of Denver, Colorado; and his cherished grandchildren, Madelyn, Emmerson, Amelia, and Maren Millard; and Hannah and Griffin Lassen.
Jerry was predeceased by his parents, Evelyn and Jack Griffith; his brother, David Griffith; and his sisters, Patricia Fürneisen and Carol Dressler.

A receiving of family & friends for Jerry will be held Thursday, April 17, 2025 from 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM at Serenity Funeral Home, 13401 Indian Rocks Road, Largo, FL 33774, followed by a funeral service at 4:30 PM.
