Jan Pritchett Ottinger, 56, passed away peacefully at her home on August 14, 2021 surrounded by her family. Jan was born in Gainesville, Florida, on May 3rd, 1965, as the youngest of six children to James Pritchett and Jerry Cellon.
Jan inspired the lives of many throughout her life with her love of family, faith, and education, along with her courageous battle against cancer.
Jan was a loving wife to her husband of 31 years, Rick Ottinger, and a dedicated mother to her two children, Brooke and Blake. She treasured and embraced every moment with them.
Jan’s faith was undeniable. During her 18 year battle with cancer Jan encouraged, inspired, and challenged others to leave their fear behind and to place their faith in the lord.
Jan’s love of education led her to becoming a kindergarten teacher and acquiring her Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of South Florida. She devoted her love of education to the Pinellas County School board inspiring, mentoring, and educating fellow teachers and students at Bardmoor Elementary for 30 years until retirement.
Jan was preceded in death by her father James Pritchett and is survived by her husband Rick Ottinger, daughter Brooke (Tyler), and son Blake, mother Jerry Cellon (Ralph), step-mother Cindy Pritchett, sisters Vicki Brown (Ralph), Kristi Pritchett, Allison Irons, brothers Rusty Pritchett (Amy), Scott Pritchett (Mandy), nine nieces/nephews and nine great-nieces/nephews.
The family requests those who wish to make memorial donations to consider making a donation to Moffitt Cancer Society or Pinellas Education Foundation.
A memorial service for Jan will be held Saturday, September 18, 2021 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Serenity Funeral Home, 13401 Indian Rocks Road, Largo, FL 33774.
