James F. (Jim) Lambert, age 88, of Largo, FL, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 23rd, 2022. He enjoyed a loving marriage relationship of 48 years with Cheryl A. (Kaler) Lambert, who survives him.
Born in Lowell, MA, on January 3, 1934, Jim was the son of Irish and Italian immigrants, Nellie (Reardon) Lambert and James Lambert. His parents and siblings, Frederick and Helen, predeceased him. He was educated in Lowell schools, went on to earn a BS in Education degree from Lowell State Teachers' College ( now UMassLowell), and an MS in Education degree from Boston University. He entered the teaching profession in Billerica, MA, and went on to become an assistant professor and Coordinator of Special Services at Lowell Technological Institute.
In 1977, Jim was among the first five inductees into the UMassLowell Hall of Fame for his athletic achievements; was honored with a Presidential Citation from the American Red Cross for heroism, and a Bronze Medal from the Humane Society of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for saving the life of a young man from the ocean waters off of Falmouth beach on Cape Cod in 1959.
A proud 4-year veteran of the U.S. Navy, Jim was a lifetime member with the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) organization. He worked professionally in the security industry for over 30 years, earning his Certified Protection Professional (CPP) designation as a proud member of ASIS International, the highly reputed organization of the security industry worldwide. Among his professional achievements. As president of Universal Systems Associates, Inc., an electronic security firm, Jim earned recognition as a member of Who's Who in International Business.
Besides his wife, Cheryl, his survivors include his daughter, Maria Lambert Reardon, of Hampton, NH, three grandchildren, (twins) Ryan James Donaher of No. Chelmsford, MA, and Jillian Claire Eileen Lynch of South Boston, MA, and Keegan Patrick Donaher, of San Diego, CA., several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A memorial service for James will be held Saturday, July 23, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at St Jeromes Catholic Church, 10895 Hamlin Blvd, Largo, FL 33774.
