Jack Vaughn was born in Baxley, Georgia on September 26, 1929. He was born into the family of Miles and Zelma Vaughn. Miles was a poor farmer, that tried his best to provide for his family, but trying to do that during the Depression years was close to impossible. Jack knew what it meant to go without. Things we take for granted were luxuries to him. Miles was a strict disciplinarian but Zelma made sure Jack knew he was loved, and everything would be ok. At an early age Jack knew what hard work was. Throughout his life he worked hard for his own family. Providing a wonderful place for his wife and children to grow and prosper. When Jack came back from the was in Korea, he met and married his dream girl, Ruby Claxton. They left Georgia and moved to Florida to begin a new life and start a family. He worked for Dean Roofing for many years. A loyal employee, the first one to arrive at work in the morning and the last one to leave at night. Ira Dean the owner, knew he had a "jewel" of a worker. Jack remained there till he retired. Jack enjoyed his retirement. Spending time fishing, golfing and growing delicious vegetables in his garden. But more importantly, he enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. His family was the Pride and JOY of his life. Later on, his son (Wendell) and daughters (Beth, Lawanda and Ranetta), begin to start their own families. Whatever you needed, whatever problem or fear you were facing, Jack was always there to help. Whether it be financial, practical or spiritual support, you knew you could always count on him. We all have stories to tell on how Jack went the "extra mile" for us. He treated his son-in-laws and daughter-in-law, as they were important and a part of the family. Jack was a great man of God. He was such a great example for his family to follow. We are all "Blessed" to have been a member of his family. Even though we are now experiencing a terrible pain. One day that pain will be forgotten, when we all have our big family reunion with him in Glory. At his passing our world has become a lesser place. In addition to his dear wife of 58 years and children he is also survived by a brother Artis, sister Ellen, ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Sunday July 22, 2012 at 2 pm at the Moss Feaster Funeral Home Serenity Gardens Chapel, 13401 Indian Rocks Road in Largo Florida. Visitation hours are also scheduled for Sunday from 1 to 2 pm at the funeral home. Jack will be laid to rest in Serenity Gardens Memorial Park in Largo FL.
