Jack Nelson Cheney Jr., 63, died unexpectedly with cardiac arrest on January 21, 2022, at Largo Medical Center. He was born October 22, 1958, in Clearwater, Florida, the son of Jack Nelson Cheney and Mae White Cheney.
Jack graduated from Clearwater High School. Following graduation, he served in the Navy. He married Mary Carr, and they settled in Largo, Florida. They celebrated 41 years of marriage on December 20, 2021. Jack was a member of Gulf Beach Masonic Lodge. He also was a member of Anona United Methodist Church, where he served the youth dinners on Sunday evenings.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Mary (Carr) Cheney, are his daughter, Mary Jane Vehmeier, his granddaughters Olivia and Sophia Vehmeier, his Father in Law, Fred Carr, and his brother and sister in law, Bill and Pam Lockwood.
A service of remembrance will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, February 12th at Serenity Gardens in Largo. Following the service will be a small reception at Anona United Methodist Church. Those who wish to remember Jack in a special way may make gifts in his memory to the United Methodist Children’s Home.
