Gary Miranda Costa, age 66, of Seminole, Florida passed away on Sunday, November 22, 2020. Gary was born June 28, 1954 in Springfield, Massachusetts to Noemia Costa and Americo Costa. As a child Gary participated in soccer and spent time at the Chicopee Portuguese Club, where he met his Wife, Virginia in 1971. He attended Technical High School, graduating with the class of 1972, excelling in shop class and drama club.
Gary married his wife Virginia (Martins) Costa, the love of his life, November 1st, 1975, in Indian Orchard, MA.
Gary served his community as a Firefighter / EMT Driver Operator for City of Clearwater Fire & Rescue for over 30 years. He was also a member of Firefighter Honor Guard, Clearwater Fire Fighter Association, Inc. Local 1158, 32 degree Mason - Star Lodge #78, Portuguese American Suncoast Association, Fire & Iron Motorcycle Club, Indian Rocks Baptist Church, Children's Burn Foundation of Florida, Dalmingo Society, Cadillac La Salle Club, and Suncoast Corvette Association.
In Gary’s free time, he enjoyed yard-saling , Portuguese folklore dancing, cruising the beach, delivering food to the homeless and coaching youth soccer. While Gary loved collecting antique cars, he also enjoyed attending community parades that featured antique cars and fire trucks. Cruising with his friends and family as well as taking Mission trips to Honduras were also things Gary loved doing.
Gary is survived by his wife of 45 years, Virginia Costa; daughter Mandy Costa Westrich; 2 sons Greg and Eric Costa; mom, Noemia Costa; 2 sisters Lena Henderson and Nancy Costa-Larson; 3 grandchildren, Miranda, Carter and Madison; son in law, Adam "Spanky" Westrich as well as several nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Gary will be held Sunday, November 29, 2020 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Serenity Funeral Home, 13401 Indian Rocks Road, Largo, Florida 33774. A masonic & eastern star memorial service will occur Sunday, November 29, 2020 from 4:30 PM to 5:00 PM as well. A funeral mass will be held Monday, November 30, 2020 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 1955 S Belcher Rd, Clearwater, Florida 33764.
