Edwin Weston Heywood was born on March 12, 1917 in Norridgewock Maine. He graduated from Deering High School and was a graduate of Stanton Military Academy. Following his education he served in the military for 35 years achieving the rank of Major General in the Army. After military service he served as the adjutant general of the state of Maine from 1958 to 1973. After this time he moved here to Florida in 1973 from Winthrop, Maine. While in Florida, he stayed active in many civil and community organizations. He is predeceased by his wife of 69 years Virginia L. Heywood(2008). He is survived by three daughters: Joanne Martin, Dianne Howe, and Suzanne Heywood. Three granddaughters, one great grandson, one great granddaughter, and one great-great granddaughter. He passed away in Florida on February 27,2013. He will be inurned at Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Augusta, Maine at a date to be determined.
