Edward Joseph Monahan passed away on March 17, 2013. He was born in Rockville Center NY on October 23, 1949. Edwards’s father, Edward SR. was a very hard worker and good provider for the family. Edward Sr. was also a volunteer firefighter and enjoyed giving back to the community. Edward’s uncle Herb was also a large part of the family. Herb was a cook for the navy and for civilian work was a tug boat captain. He was married to Vivian L. Monahan, where they had a son, Shawn Jeep Patrick Monahan. While married he joined the service and for a time was stationed in Germany with his family. After the military he worked for the United States Postal Service as a mail carrier until retirement. In later years he settled in Seminole Florida where he worked as a patient rights advocate for veterans at Bay Pines medical center and an active member of the American Legion. Edward also enjoyed learning as he graduated from Eckerd college and also started classes at Stetson University. Throughout his life he enjoyed playing softball and was an avid Raider fan. Edward loved baseball especially the Yankees, but became disappointed with the sport after the players went on strike. He was known for his high energy and good attitude which made him a perfect fit to be a high impact aerobics instructor. When he wasn’t busy doing these activities he enjoyed playing games and working on computers. He is predeceased by his beloved dogs: Casper, Duke ,Candy, Blue, Jeter, Chopper and his bird Popeye. Survivors include his wife , Vivian Monahan, son Shawn Monahan, and Edwards mother, Helen Monahan. A memorial service is planned for April 2nd at 1 pm at Moss Feaster Serenity Gardens.
