Charles Thomas Phillips, Jr. passed quietly away after a brief illness on October 11, 2017 surrounded by his family. He was born in 1922 to Mary Jones Phillips and Charles Thomas Phillips in Birmingham, Alabama. Graduated from Phillips High School, attended Marion Institute and entered U.S.N.A. Class of ’45. Stationed on the U.S.Mobile CL63. Resigned in 1947 because of near-sightedness and entered U. of Alabama prior to getting his dental degree from Emory U. in 1953.Took postgraduate studies at Northwestern. Practiced dentistry in Dunediin, FL for 35 years where he was president of the local Dental Association, and active in the State and National Associations. He was also a Rotarian, an accomplished tennis player and enjoyed boating, scuba diving, croquet and duplicate bridge. Devoted follower of the Crimson Tide ( Go Bama! ) Member of Carlouel Yacht Club and Belleair Country Club. Married to Anne Jacobs in 1945 tor fifty years and had two children, Kent and Caroline. She was deceased in 1997. Married Gail Kremer in 1998. Survived by wife Gail and children Kent Phillips (Kitty) of Clearwater and Caroline Broughton (Richard} of Montgomery, Alabama and step-children Deborah Tharp, David Kremer and Susan Frampton, twelve grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Memorial service will be held on October 28, 2017 at 11am at Anona United Methodist Church. Donations may be made in his honor to Big Oak Children's Ranch, P.O. Box 507, Springville, AL 35146 and also to Anona United Methodist Church in his name.
