94, of Seminole, passed away on February 25, 2018 at home, under the care of Hospice. Doris was preceded in death by her husband, George; her son, Randy; and sister, Norma Kate Parker. She is survived by her sister, Priscilla Burnham of Hartselle, Alabama and numerous nieces and nephews. Born in Eclectic, Alabama, Doris attended and graduated from Montevallo College in Alabama. Doris subsequently served as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force, which is where she met her husband, George. Following completion of her military service, Doris entered a graduate program at Columbia University in New York City. She and George then settled in Cranford, New Jersey, where Doris began a 40 year career teaching English and later serving as a guidance counselor. Upon retirement, she and George moved to Largo, Florida and spent the next 25 years cruising the world and meeting new people in every port. She was also an active volunteer at Ruth Eckerd Hall and the Straz Performing Arts Center. Her family would like to offer a very special thank you for the wonderful care provided to Doris by her companions from Brookdale Health at Lake Seminole Square as well as Suncoast Hospice.
