God and family were always at the center of David's life. He wed Karen Knudson in 1970, and they had two boys in the years that followed: Christopher (now residing in Hickory, NC and Todd, now residing in St. Pete Beach, FL). In his professional career, David served churches as a pastor in Rhode Island, South Carolina, and Florida, as well as serving his country as a chaplain in the Air Force Reserves, rising to the rank of Brigadier General. His most prized achievement was becoming an Eagle Scout. David had a generous heart, calming demeanor, and wonderful intellect. After retiring in 2004, David continued to help local churches, played golf, and read voraciously. His greatest joy was spending time with his four grandchildren: Andrew, Katherine, Morgan, and Finn Webb. He is remembered fondly and with love by many friends and family.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Hanford and Evah Webb and brother James (Jim) Webb. David is survived by his wife of 52 years, Karen Webb; their children and spouses (Reverend Christopher and Janine Webb and Todd and Signe Webb); grandchildren Andrew, Katherine, Morgan, and Finn Webb; his brother John Webb of Willis, VA; his brother-in-law Rolf Knudson; his aunt Anne Paulson; nieces, nephews, and additional family. As David often reminded those around him, "My grace is sufficient is for you," from II Corinthians 12:9.
A memorial service to celebrate Pastor Webb’s life, faith, and ministry will be held Friday, November 4, at 11:00am at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Largo, FL with a reception to follow in the Fellowship Hall. Pastor Joe Glymph will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to ELCA World Hunger, P.O. Box 1809, Merrifield, VA, 22116-8009
