Cindy Lou Owens, 67, of Clearwater, Florida, passed away on October 17, 2023. She was born in Coggon, Iowa, to her loving parents, James Basler and Bonna Schumacher Basler. She shared her childhood with sisters, Susan and Jaimie.
Cindy's journey through life was one of remarkable dedication and achievement. She began her education at North Linn High School and pursued her passion for healthcare by obtaining an RN degree from St. Luke's School of Nursing in Cedar Rapids. Her thirst for knowledge and dedication to her craft led her to earn a BSN from Coe College, also in Cedar Rapids.
In her professional life, Cindy made a profound impact in the field of healthcare. She started her career in the neonatal intensive care unit at St. Luke's, where her caring and compassionate nature shone through. Later, she ventured to California, where she contributed her expertise to Merck Pharmaceuticals. Her dedication and commitment were recognized when she was encouraged to further her education, leading to the attainment of a Master's degree in Gerontology at Webster University in St. Louis.
In 1993, Cindy married the love of her life, Richard "Rick" Owens. Together, they embarked on a journey around the world filled with love and shared dreams, creating cherished memories that will forever live in the hearts of those who knew them.
In 1994, Cindy made Florida her home, and for 22 years, she served with distinction at Morton Plant Hospital as a wound/ostomy nurse, leaving a lasting legacy of care and compassion in the healthcare community.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Cindy was a woman of many passions. She had a deep love for painting, an adventurous spirit that fueled her travels, a special place in her heart for dogs, and a fondness for sailing. Her compassionate nature extended to her involvement with the Golden Retriever Rescue of Mid Florida.
Cindy Lou Owens was known for her unwavering stamina, wit, patience, caring and compassionate heart, her strong-willed determination, and her unending dedication to the well-being of others. She was a loving daughter, a dedicated healthcare professional, a cherished wife, and a source of strength and inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Cindy's memory will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched with her kindness, her resilience, and her love. She leaves behind a legacy that serves as a testament to a life well-lived and a spirit that will continue to inspire us.
Rest in peace, dear Cindy Lou Owens. You will be deeply missed and never forgotten. A Funeral Service for Cindy will be held on Monday, October 30th, 2023 at 2pm, Chapel by the Sea 54 Bay Esplanade, Clearwater, FL 33767.
