Uncle Charlie,
I was so saddened when I received the news of your passing.  I was looking forward to visiting with you this coming Summer.  Although distance and time kept us apart, you were always still part of my Family.  I'm so glad that my grandson Logan (You were his Great, Great Uncle) had the opportunity to meet you a few years ago.  I'll never forget the last time we met, you showed me a folder of all the cards and letters I'd had sent to you over the years.  I was touched on how much that meant to you, and that you had saved them. 
 
I remember sharing what your godchild (My deceased brother Terry) had said about you as his godfather, Uncle Charlie.  He said that Uncle Charlie always gave him the best gifts of any godfather.  Uncle Charlie gave him a live alligator, a parakeet, and a record album with all kinds of sound effects on it. We took the album and blasted the sounds on the outdoor speakers that Dad had set up for the Holidays.  We stopped traffic more than once with that record. All because Terry said he had the coolest godfather ever.

Thank You for the memories, and being OUR Uncle Charlie.  You'll be missed, but always in our thoughts and hearts.

Uncle Charlie,
I am so glad I was able to share part of your life. You always had a smile and a soothing disposition.  I guess as the old saying goes the apple does not fall far from the tree..... I know you and my Dad were best buds and I do see qualities in myself that both of you have. You always gave of yourself in those in need and always gave me encouragement to be a better person. Even though miles have kept us apart our phone calls have been a joy and always made me smile. I will miss those beautiful written cards that I will always hold dear as well as your memory in my heart forever.
It has been an honor being your niece. Until we meet again RIP.
