Carolyn Bassett, 86, a beloved resident of Miami and Fort Pierce, passed away on April 23rd, 2024. Born on December 31st, 1937, in Columbus, Ohio, Carolyn was the cherished daughter of Phyllis and William Peach.
Carolyn's life was marked by a deep devotion to her family and a vibrant spirit. She graduated from Miami Senior High and later married the love of her life, Frank W. Bassett, on November 26th, 1955. Together, they shared a lifetime of love and companionship.
Professionally, Carolyn excelled as a merchandise buyer for Burdines, where her keen eye for quality and style made a lasting impact. However, her true joy came from her roles as a wife, mother, grandmother, and sister.
A woman of many passions, Carolyn found great fulfillment in exploring the world through travel, indulging in the pages of a good book, and doting on her grandchildren. Her warmth, generosity, and unwavering love enriched the lives of all who knew her.
Carolyn is survived by her devoted daughters, Delores Ungureit (Randy), Susan Bassett-Fornash (Don), Valerie DeGiovanni (Mike), and Lynda Bassett; her beloved grandchildren, William R (Boz) Ungureit II (Rachel), Brian Taylor (Julie), Jennifer Reid, Jessica Fornash, Jason, Cory, and Dillon DeGiovanni and Benjamin Shankwitz; her five great-grandchildren, Abigail, Hadley, Ellie, Emma and Randy; her cherished sister, Martha Smith, and a host of extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her sister Patricia Bratton, her grandchildren Ramey Thompson and Timothy Shankwitz.
A Celebration of Life honoring Carolyn's remarkable journey will be held at 1:30 pm on June 8th, 2024, at All Saints Episcopal Church, located at 1700 Keystone Road, Tarpon Springs, FL 34688.
