Born on September 10, 1950 in Rockford, IL, his parents, Aubrey and Maxine Jenkins, moved the family to the Clearwater-Largo area when he was 8 years old where they opened Jenkins Supply Company, an electronics distributor. Bryan graduated from Largo High and St. Petersburg Junior College and attended the University of Florida before returning home to help run the family business which he managed until 1989. Bryan loved working in his vegetable garden and was known to make a smooth moonshine to share with friends. Many would gather on weekends while Bryan ran his home-built smokehouse. His jerky was legendary and a favorite with everyone.
Bryan made trips with his friend Ted to south Florida to pick up sugar cane that was used for the Country Jubilee held at Heritage Village, giving smoke house and sugarcane mill demonstrations during public events. He also enjoyed fishing with friend Ed.
You could find him cheering on the Gators, Navy, Bucs, Rays, and Lightning from his kitchen stool most days and nights. He enjoyed countless hours of darts and cornhole, and always liked a trip to Derby Lane to bet on the greyhounds. He had a love for nature and a kind heart for animals. He had a great sense of humor, with a dad joke always on the tip of his tongue.
In honor of Bryan's wishes, a small, close friends and family gathering will be held at Serenity Gardens Chapel Mausoleum on Saturday, July 29, at 11 am, with an inurnment of ashes immediately following.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances can take any form you wish including donations to any animal organization including the Humane Society of Pinellas County where he adopted his best friend Shelley who stayed by his side during his long journey.
