Barbara Shearer Gilchrist, departed this world on November 8th, 2023, at the age of 80. Born on October 22nd, 1943, in Staten Island, New York, to Beatrice and Peter Shearer, Barbara graduated from Bound Brook High School. On July 10th, 1982, she embarked on a lifelong journey with George Gilchrist, Jr.
Barbara's journey encompassed a career in Marine electronics at Sitex Marine Electronics and a chapter on Wall Street in bustling New York. Yet, beyond her professional achievements, Barbara was a maven of warmth and connection. Her heart found its home in the embrace of family, where every moment was a tapestry woven with love. Above all else she treasured time with her family. She enjoyed endlessly doting on her grandchildren. One of her greatest joys in life was getting to spend time with the entire family, especially around the holidays. Barbara’s love for her family was immense and will forever be remembered and felt by those who survive her.
An avid reader, Barbara's personal library was a sanctuary of words, each book a cherished treasure reflecting her profound love for literature. Among her passions was the allure of the open sea, where she and George navigated the waters of life, creating memories they cherished together.
Barbara is survived by her children; Laura Blosser and son-in-law Kirk Blosser, Brian Cohen and daughter-in-law Pam Rice, Vicki Linn and son-in-law Craig Linn, and Tracey Triguero. The echoes of her spirit live on through the laughter and joy of her grandchildren: Cheyenne Capobianco, Chase Matthews, Austin Sauvageau, Elisa Linn, Sophie Linn, Connor Linn, Mackenzie Cohen, Sarah Rice, Amy Rice, EJ Triguero, and Lazaro Triguero.
Barbara's life was a composition of love, written in the pages of family gatherings, literary treasures, and the gentle lull of ocean waves. In our hearts, she remains, a beacon of warmth and grace, forever adored and cherished.
